Collection: Nobue Ibaraki
These works feature beautiful gradations of blue, from deep blue to greenish blue to white blue .
I wanted to find out the names of those subtle differences in color .
I am once again amazed at how many names there are for the color blue in Japan .
Sky blue, dayflower blue, lapis lazuli, light blue. The Japanese of the past were drawn to the blue colors that were right in front of them.
I am moved by the names that were chosen by exploring colors in seasonal plants and nature .
A lot of blue is expressed in Ibaraki's pottery.
This gives the impression of the colour of a slightly cloudy sky, similar to the colour of the deep ocean offshore.
How about looking at it that way?
